Is PHP still a good choice for a new web app?

Yes, for many products. Modern PHP is fast, well maintained and easy to host and staff. If your product leans on real-time features or AI work, Node.js or Python may fit better, and we'll say so.

Can you upgrade an old PHP application?

Yes. We add tests around critical paths, update dependencies and fix deprecated code, then move to a supported PHP version in steps. The app stays live throughout.

Should we rewrite our PHP app in another language?

Usually not. A rewrite is slow and risky, and the old app keeps needing fixes meanwhile. Upgrading and refactoring in place gets most of the benefit; we suggest a rewrite only when the code can't be saved.
